Aging and Solitude

I truly believe that gaining a comfort and familiarity with solitude enables us to age with a growing wisdom and grace.  Learning to “keep our own council” and listen to the voice deep within ourselves can really only be accessed through solitude.  There is a peace and kindness that comes from this place.

One of the things I encourage my clients and students to practice is this solitude.  It helps enormously to find one’s own authentic voice.  Many people have lived their lives in isolation – but this is not solitude.  Solitude is what comes from enjoying being with one’s own self – and it is from here, I believe that really authentic connectedness to others can arise.I truly believe that gaining a comfort and familiarity with solitude enables us to age with a growing wisdom and grace.  Learning to “keep our own council” and listen to the voice deep within ourselves can really only be accessed through solitude.  There is a peace and kindness that comes from this place.
